About Us

In line with the Student Council’s thrust of Bridging Communities Towards Nurturing Our Shared Home, the Student Council Executive Board wishes to uphold bridging communities together through an initiative that provides service to the community around us. Acknowledging the toll which the pandemic has taken on various communities, the Executive Board wishes to extend the reach of the student body and fulfill its function to reach out to the marginalized. Especially with DepEd’s announcement that all schools must have full face-to-face classes, it all the more emphasizes the need for students to prepare their various school materials and funds for books, writing implements, and school uniforms. By providing better education to others, we may be able to make a push to “bridge the gap” for a brighter tomorrow.

According to a study conducted by the World Bank, the Philippines has undergone a drastic shift over the course of the pandemic as 90% of Philippine children are currently facing learning poverty (Madarang, 2022). This means that at the age of 10, children struggle with basic literacy skills to understand and comprehend different texts. Efforts to address learning poverty have been exacerbated and compounded by the fact that public schools lack the resources. Both students and teachers alike have expressed their concerns about how they are currently lacking in terms of what they need to maximize the learning experience.

Given the success of the Grade 9 Batch Shop during the previous year, the Executive Board believes that its success can be replicated on the scale of the entire Junior High School. By consolidating efforts of selling merchandise across 4 batches, the entire community will be able to raise funds for a public school in need.

As the country transitions to a face-to-face mode of learning, students require supplies, apart from uniforms in some cases, which can be costly for many students. Given this, the project aims to assist these students by providing public school students with some of their needs as they prepare to transition back to a face-to-face setup.

OBJECTIVES:

  1. To donate school materials to select public schools.
  2. To produce a variety of merchandise and clothing that caters to the Xavier School  Junior High School community.
  3. To allow the Xavier community to show their pride for their batch and do their part in nurturing our shared home.
